Summer Show 2011

The Annual Summer Show was held in the Village Hall on Saturday 13th August.  All three judges - Mr Kendrick (vegetables), Mr Bacon (flowers) and Mrs Cragg (floral art) remarked on the quality and high standards of the entries, and the hall did indeed look very bright and full of beautiful flowers and vegetables.

Once again Mr Sidney Bastard swept the board of trophies - the Cups for most points in Vegetable Section as well as Cut Flower Section, The John Stone Cup for most points in Pot Plant Section gained by a St Tudy GPA member, The Lamerton Memorial Cup for best exhibit in show (for his potatoes), the Dray Memorial Cup for most points in Vegetable and Flower Sections and the Top Tray Award.  He did have some strong competition with Mr Armstrong taking the Vegetable Section Runner up cup, Mrs Jenny Keat the runner up Cup in cut flowers, and our chairman Mr Brian Lamerton won the Ron Skyner cup for best Fuchsia exhibit with his six perfect blooms on a board.  Mr Raymond Jago was second place with his Top Tray and Mr M  Armstrong third.

Mrs Jasper was the winner of the cups for Most Points in Floral Art and also for Best Exhibit with her stylish arrangement viewed from one side.  Marley Lamerton Madden didn't have much competition in juniors so gained a first in both classes of a seaside garden and arrangement of flowers and foliage.  The Edward-Collins Allotment Cup was won by Mrs Maureen Bloomfield to great cheers from the audience!
