After many months of fundraising the new extension to St Tudy Village Hall was officially opened on Saturday 11th March 2006. Villagers waited outside for Mrs Jinny Harris and Mrs Tresa Kempthorne to cut the tape and declare it open.

Everyone entered to find the hall newly decorated, tea tables set out and the roof adorned with paper streamers. All the organizations which use the hall had contributed in fundraising activities and inside the hall were displays of what they do.

Mrs Mavis Kingdon, Chairman of the Village Hall Committee gave a rousing speech about the reasons for the extension – to comply with EU regulations - its costs, development and progress. Help had been provided by North Cornwall District Council, the Foundation for Sport and the Arts, Lloyds TSB and Help the Aged and everyone was thanked!

After the speeches a wonderful tea appeared, the grand finale being a special cake baked by Mrs Muriel Couch and iced by Mrs Dianne Bartlett.
