Exhibition of Patchwork at
St
Tudy
On Saturday 4th May 2002 a wonderful exhibition of patchwork by Miss Nora Sheer’s Patchwork Group was held in St Tudy Village Hall. The sign outside read:-
“Patchworkers
are Piecemakers”
Miss Sheer, an extremely accomplished needlewoman, puts on the show every two years, for charity, the recipients this year were Cornwall Air Ambulance and a cheque for £214 has been sent.
First prize in the raffle was a beautiful quilt, the work of 18 different people. One member of the group had not finished her section before going off on holiday to New Zealand, so she took it with her to complete and then posted it back!
The range of articles on display was amazing, full size quilts, cushions, floral clocks, table runners, cards, wall hangings – all a joy to behold. Many of the design’s were the stitcher’s own, scenes from the village of St Tudy, butterflies, birds, flowers and abstracts; Miss Sheer encourages her group to be inventive. Weekly classes are held in her home, which are always well attended, and her skill as a teacher is shown by the quality of the work that was on display.
If you did not manage to get to this year’s exhibition, put a note in your diary for 2004, it is a show not to be missed.
