Exhibition of Patchwork at

St Tudy 27th May, 2006

Even the awful weather failed to dampen the enthusiasm of Nora Sheer and her patchwork group, ably assisted by Nora’s brother Harold, and Bill Hodge and Mike Smith, to get to work transforming the Village Hall for the bi-annual Patchworkers are Piecemakers Exhibition. Three hours and a cup of tea each later, the Hall was a colourful canvas of beautiful wall hangings, cushions, quilts, cards and bags.

Despite the awful weather there was a steady trickle of visitors from 1.00 p.m.

Visitors were asked to pay £1 entrance and this included a cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit. There was the opportunity to buy raffle tickets and the first prize was the communal quilt made by Nora and the patchwork group during 2005-2006, depicting sky, land and seascapes, animals and flowers as seen through the Attic Window.

Visitors could make Christmas (only 7 months away now!) decorations helped by Nora and there were demonstrations showing patchwork techniques.

Residents from The Lizard who had found St Tudy on the web site, two ladies from Caradon Liskeard Quilters and one of Nora’s needlework pupils at Davidstow from 1958-1962 were among the people who came to the exhibition. It was evident from some of their comments that they enjoyed their visit.

Wonderful exhibition of excellent work.

Very impressive display

Such inspiration. Thank you.

Astonishing evidence of a talented village

The event raised £152.50 towards the improvements in the Chapel.

A final word (or two) from Nora.

I am proud of all the patchwork I have done in the years since I retired at the end of 1986 especially as I never intended to become a quilter, but even more I am so very proud of all I have helped you to achieve since November 1993. Imagine what a show all the articles we have made would be!!!!
