The Patchwork Club

After nearly nine years of patch working there is no lack of interest. The afternoon group is still twelve, which is the limit I can fit in my home, and the evening group has risen to nine. We have lost some members through the years but there has been someone to take their place. Recently I have had a couple more who would like to join when they are settled with time to spare.

We wish to continue in my home as everything we need is at hand just when we want it. Interest doe not have a chance to wane. Many different kinds of patchwork, appliqué and quilting are tried and sewn successfully. Also crochet and embroidery are tackled. My role now is to supply the material and help sometimes when a problem occurs. Many are not able to get to the specialist shops and my stock is very welcome. This means I too am able to have a much bigger selection to work with for my quilts. I enjoy making quilts of illusion.

The fee is still 25p and to date the total sent to charity is £1514. This includes the £214 we raised for the Cornwall Air Ambulance at your exhibition in May 2002. But the most important part of our patchwork club is the social side. The laughter, the chat, companionship and friendship we share while our fingers manipulate pieces of material into quilts, cushions, wall hangings and many more articles.
