St Tudy Pre-School is a small, friendly group aiming to provide a caring and enjoyable learning environment for children up to the age of five. We aim to stimulate and nurture childrens’ curiosity and enthusiasm for learning in a caring and safe environment, while following the Pre-School Learning Alliance’s mission of “Learning through Play”.
We hold our sessions at the beautifully renovated St Tudy Village Hall, close to the centre of this lovely village. Sessions are on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon plus alternate Thursdays 12.30 p.m. - 3.00 p.m. during school term times. There is also a parent/toddler group for children under two and a half, held on Wednesday afternoon 12.45 p.m. - 2.45 p.m.
Our activities include arts and crafts, role play, playdough/clay, sand and water, stories, cookery, jigsaws and games. We are lucky to have a large, level and securely fenced garden where children can access a climbing frame and playhouse.
At each session children sit down for a healthy snack in which dietary needs can be observed if required.
Parents help out on a rota basis at each session; this enables us to get to know each other and provides the opportunity for parents to see at first hand what their children do.
The Playgroup also arranges social events for parents and carers and welcomes any parental involvement. There is involvement in other aspects of village life such as the carnival during the summer and entering exhibits for the garden shows. We hold coffee mornings and summer fayres. We also make trips during the year, such as to the beach, fire station and fun parks. We also work closely with the village school.
We are members of the Government Early Years scheme and can offer funded places for three and four year olds in the term following their birthday. Otherwise our fees are £4.50 per session, to include a healthy snack, payable half-termly in advance.
