St Tudy Church bells may be ringing, but when it rains there is another rather sinister sound -  the drip, drip, drip of raindrops, falling on the pews from the leaks in the Church roof.

None of us having quite the physical attributes to emulate the famous WI  Calendar Girls, we decided to help raise some of the money needed for repairs by compiling a cookery book -  “St Tudy Treats”.  An appeal to everyone in the village, resulted in a mouth-watering collection of favourite recipes, many of them accompanied by amusing memories and anecdotes.  All 170-plus recipes are eminently cook-able, with no complicated instructions or long lists of unobtainable ingredients -  just very delicious.

To add to the pleasure there are numerous illustrations and views of St Tudy throughout the book, which in itself makes it a wonderful gift to send away to friends or as a memento for visitors.  With coloured and laminated cover, this spiral bound book will be a splendid present for Christmas. So with that in mind, “St Tudy Treats” will be launched on Saturday 27th September at The Clink, St Tudy, between 10 am and 12.30 when refreshments will be available. All proceeds will go to the St Tudy Church Fabric Fund for the Church Roof Appeal.

For the launch morning only the book will be on sale at the special price of £4.50.  Thereafter it will be available in St Tudy and from various other outlets, price £4.95.   It can also be purchased via the village website www.sttudy.org.uk or within the UK by mail order for £6.75 to include postage and packing.  Cheques made out to “St Tudy Church Fabric Fund” should be sent to Margaret Bevan, Elm Cottage, School Lane, St Tudy, Bodmin, Cornwall PL30 3NQ, telephone 01208 850061.
