PARISH COUNCIL

There are 10 members on the council, chosen by the people of St. Tudy, elections are held every 4 years, the next one is due in 2003, except for the chairman and vice-chairman who are elected every year by members of the council.

Ten meetings are held annually, one each month except during August and December, unless something urgent occurs, e.g. a contentious planning application.

Recent projects funded by the council have been the kerbing and laying of a small area of tarmac around the war memorial, replacement of the well door in Hengar lane and the re-instatement of the ‘binding stone’ at St. Tudy forge.  The binding stone & well door project received a 50% grant from the county council amounting to £795.00.  The council has an annual allowance of £3.50 for each person on the electoral role that can be donated to various village projects that are not covered by any other specific legislation.  Recent recipients have been the playgroup, carnival, village hall committee for the fireworks, playing field committee (the council pays their insurance) and the church (towards the upkeep of the cemetery).

At the request of the parish council, the district council have supplied 3 dog litterbins, and if these are found to be useful, more may be provided at a later date.

The current precept for 2000/2001 is £2000 this sum has not changed for 3 years.
