ST TUDY GARDEN SAFARI – JULY 2004

'The gardeners of St Tudy watched the weather forecast with trepidation as the date for the bi-annual Garden Safari approached.  Lawns were rapidly cut between the showers, plants were staked and tied to prevent them being battered by the winds, pots moved to sheltered areas so that come Saturday 17th July everything would look perfect. Saturday dawned grey and miserable, but by the afternoon the sun broke through the clouds to welcome the visitors and Sunday was even better, blue skies and sunshine right up until the last half hour when the rain returned. People were amazed at the diversity of the gardens, some large, some very small, all totally different. Around 250 people visited the eleven gardens that were open, entered the raffle, purchased plants and enjoyed delicious refreshments. A magnificent £1330 was raised for St Tudy Church Funds.  So thank you to all who visited, opened their gardens or helped to organise the event.

Water plays a big part in this magnificent garden.
Slate paths meander through the lavender and sage in the aromatic area of this garden.
The graceful pink flowers of the dierama (Angel’s Fishing Rods) were a great talking point of this garden.
